Katie Prices new range of 'clothes' will be one of the main draws at Salford Fashion Week.

After months of preparation Salford Fashion Week is almost upon us with a spectacular launch event Monday 13th February 2012. News Manc previews what’s hot and what’s not in the West Manchester suburb with what is sure to be a busy schedule of fashion shows, backstage action and celebrity-infested parties.

“It’s about time a key fashion week was added to the traditional roster of the ‘big four'”, said Salford Fashion Week Managing Director and main event organiser Kelly Renshaw. She is of course referring to the other four legendary fashion weeks in London, Paris, Milan and New York.

“Salford has a great deal to offer the world in terms of haute couture and it’s only right that we reflect this with a week-long celebration in the North of England”, continued Renshaw. “What do Milan and New York have that Salford doesn’t?”

The event will take place across a number of venues including Salford Shopping City, Pendleton Bus Station and Irlam Community Centre. “We were keen to use some of the function rooms at The Flemish Weaver Public House, but unfortunately they’ve been booked up for some sort of prison release party”, said Renshaw.

The opening ceremony will see a spectacular catwalk show through the main shopping precinct with designers such as McKenzie, JD Sports, Juicy Couture and FCUK all showing off their spring / summer 2012 collections. Renshaw expects to see certain themes within all the collections on show.

“We’ve seen from the shows that have already taken place in 2012 that designers are currently obsessed with colorful prints and audacious themes. Fifties Americana was apparent throughout Prada’s entire collection in Milan for example, so expect to see brands such as Primark and JJB reflecting this in their night and leisurewear”.

“Gucci have previously displayed an almost robotic, Art-Deco, metallic quality to their very masculine ladies 2012 collection, so I expect to see that in spades throughout Salford Fashion week. Argos, for example, may see that as a strong influence for their ladieswear collection in their new catalougue”, argued Renshaw.

Celebrities expected to drop in during the week include Danny Morris (former member of X-Factor top five finishers Eton Road), Dave Benson-Phillips, former Birds of a Feather star Leslie Joseph, Morrissey, former darts world champion Phil Taylor, Shovell from the group M People and former Radio 1 bastard DJ Spoony.

“We’ve got a great discount rate for guests at the Holiday Inn Express at Salford Quays”, said Renshaw.

Wednesday will see a special unveiling of model turned designer Katie Prices new tracksuit collection who told News Manc that she’s incredibly excited.

“I’m wetter than an otter’s pocket about this one”, said Price.

The event will be sponsored by food retailers Iceland and Greggs who will both provide catering during the week.

Sneering, snobby, unfunny rubbish that I’d expect to be rejected from a school magazine.
